Musical collaborations during the coronavirus pandemic
At the Hospice, our staff and volunteers often come together to enjoy music.
We haven’t been able to do that, not only do we miss sharing each other’s musical talents, but we also miss the connections that enjoying a performance together brings.
Oli King, our Music Therapist, decided he wanted to find a way to bring people together to work on something positive, so he has worked with staff and volunteers to produce a number of music videos during the lockdown.
We hope you enjoy watching these performances.
Take Me Home, Country Roads, performed by staff and volunteers from St Nicholas Hospice Care
The idea was simple (the technology – not always) using the voices of staff and volunteers he wanted to create a virtual recording of the song Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver.
Oliver said: “It has been absolutely brilliant having the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of staff and volunteers at the Hospice.
Walking for Girls Night
Oliver says: “This recent Girls Night Out video takes the famous song ‘Walking on Sunshine’ by Katrina and the Waves, and turns it into something quite unique to St Nic’s – we did our very own supercharged version with staff and volunteers! We hope you enjoy!”
Virtual duets
With a performance at the Hospice not an option at the moment, volunteer Pamela Bailey and Music Therapist Oli King decided to come together virtually to record some performances.
