Getting legal advice
We have an improved offer of free legal advice for 2021!
Free legal advice is available to Hospice patients, their immediate family members, and Hospice staff members and volunteers, from our St Nicholas Hospice Care goodWill Legal Advisers.
Previously, on the last Wednesday of each month, a legal adviser would visit the Hospice and offer free 20-minute face-to-face discussions. The pandemic has dictated that face-to-face contact is no longer possible, so contact with the legal adviser now has to be by telephone or video conferencing, at least initially. In addition, for 2021, instead of the offer being restricted to one specific day each month, one of our supportive local legal practices will be nominated as the “Legal Adviser of the Month” and will take calls requesting advice at any time throughout that month.
Ellisons Solicitors (incorporating Gross & Co) is our Legal Adviser of the Month for July. Sarah Lee will take calls throughout July 2021 and her contact number is 01284 763333. When you call, please specify that you are taking advantage of St Nicholas Hospice Care’s offer of free legal advice. If you prefer to make your initial approach by email, Sarah’s address is firstname.lastname@example.org
If, after the initial consultation, you decide that you need further advice and assistance, the legal adviser will explain to you their usual fees for accepting your instructions and taking the matter forward.
As before, most of our supportive legal advisers are Wills and Probate specialists but, in most cases, they will be pleased to refer you on to a colleague if you require advice of a different nature.
Further information regarding the legal help offered to Hospice users is available, if required, from Legacy Officer, Nick Duncan, by calling 075 4565 7216 or emailing email@example.com
