Jo Howlett – Trustee

Career summary

As an FCCA, I have had a diverse career leading Finance Teams in the international private sector ranging from Insurance to Defence Systems, including Publishing and Vehicle Finance, followed by the role of Head of Finance at Sue Ryder before joining the NHS, spending 11 years working for a variety of NHS Trusts, through significant transformations and reorganisations, and latterly for West Suffolk Councils as Deputy Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and then CFO covering maternity leave.

Now retired, my interests are painting, writing, badminton, cycling and supporting local charities with my financial expertise, and I currently hold a Non-Executive Directorship with Bury Theatre Royal in addition to the Trusteeship for the Hospice.

Why did you become a Trustee of St Nicholas Hospice Care?

The organisation inspired me to become a Trustee with its successful and far-reaching signposting, advice-giving, and general support of the local community in addition to its inpatient caregiving responsibilities. The role enables me to utilise my skills, experience and expertise to promote Financial awareness, Business Acumen and Team Building, giving something back to the local community.
