Anne Fisher – Chair of the Board of Trustees

Career Profile:

Prior to my retirement in 2022, I worked for over 35 years in the education sector. I started my career as a Primary teacher in Hampshire, and took up senior leadership posts, including Headship for 17 years prior to moving to Suffolk in August 2000.

Following my relocation, I initially worked for Cambridgeshire Local Authority as a Headteacher of a primary school, and I was then appointed to Essex County Council as a senior education adviser. In this role, I supported and co-ordinated the work of a team of advisers and consultants in West Essex and had overall responsibility for 120 primary schools.

I started my own education consultancy business in April 2012 and worked as an independent education adviser supporting a diverse range of primary schools and academy trusts in East Anglia. My specialisms included governance, leadership and management, and accountability in the public sector. I also trained as an Ofsted inspector and have taken part in a number of primary school inspections.

Why did you become a St Nicholas Hospice Care Trustee?

I became a trustee at St Nicholas Hospice Care in 2020 as I wanted to use my skills and experience and get involved in such a worthwhile local charity. The Hospice has an amazing reputation in the local community, and I feel privileged to be associated with it and to help in whichever way I can. In addition to my role as a trustee, I also volunteer as a ward receptionist in the in-patient unit at the Hospice.
