For students, we can offer advice on those who may be considering a career in a health and social care setting, advise on career pathways and conduct a discussion group to encourage conversations around life, society, death, funerals and grief.
Training sessions
Career Pathways / Work Experience
This session aims to demonstrate the different health and social care opportunities available at St Nicholas Hospice Care. We focus on nursing pathways and opportunities to learn, different work experience opportunities and past student and staff career journeys, fundraising opportunities and why this can enhance social skills and knowledge of the charity sector.
Overarching Principles of End of Life Care
This session offers students who are interested in a career in the health and social care profession an overview of government policies, medical, nursing and holistic care, ethics in nursing, communication skills and advanced care planning.

Volunteering
Young volunteering is another good way of gaining valuable experience especially if you are undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh award. Areas in which you can volunteer include retail, catering, marketing, admin/reception.
