Anita Pearson – Trustee
As a qualified Social Worker, I have worked in social care settings for over 30 years, working with children and families affected by chronic health and/or disability. I managed children’s services for national charities in the UK where I was a Registered Homes Manager. My work then took me to Southern Africa and Asia where I was Technical Co-ordinator in Disability and Development. Working within multi-disciplinary rehabilitation medical teams, I supported poverty reduction and recovery efforts within conflict/war, trauma and natural disaster areas, focused on disabled populations.
Later returning to the UK I then worked within the NHS as a Specialist Social Worker with children and families affected by Cystic Fibrosis. I was also employed as an Independent Visitor and was responsible for the inspection and quality assurance of residential and community services.
Moving back to Suffolk was a homecoming and since then I have been privileged to be a full-time carer for my own mother at the end of her life.
As a Trustee at St Nicholas Hospice Care, I now use my years of experience and dynamism within the Board of Trustees. Knowing this impacts upon the quality of services for people using St Nicolas Hospice Care’s services, is very satisfying.
