Maintenance Technician

At St Nicholas Hospice Care, we support almost 2,000 people every year across West Suffolk and Thetford. Our care goes beyond our hospice buildings, reaching people in their homes and communities when they need us most. Behind every aspect of our care is a dedicated team ensuring our facilities are safe, comfortable and well maintained. We are now looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities team and help keep our 11 sites running smoothly.
About the role
This is a hands-on, varied position where no two days are the same. You’ll carry out planned and reactive maintenance across our sites, helping to ensure our buildings remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose. From minor repairs and decorating to basic plumbing, carpentry and electrical work, you’ll play an important role in supporting our staff, volunteers and visitors. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you’ll use your practical skills, initiative and problem-solving abilities to respond to maintenance needs and maintain high standards across our estate.
What you’ll bring
• Multi-trade maintenance experience to handyperson level
• Has practical experience in decorating, carpentry, building repairs, plumbing and basic electrical maintenance
• Can work independently and manage competing priorities
• Has a proactive, flexible and solution-focused approach
• Builds positive working relationships with colleagues, contractors and visitors
• Is confident using email and IT systems
• Holds a full UK driving licence and is willing to use their own vehicle for work-related travel
