Special guests bring joy, smiles and laughter

Three special guests created quite a stir when they stopped by the Hospice to say hello.

Miniature donkeys Pippin, Millie and Saffron from Miniature Donkeys for Wellbeing brought smiles and joy to patients, staff and volunteers at St Nicholas Hospice Care when they visited our Hardwick Lane Hospice on July 7.

 

The visit was arranged as part of our Memorable Moments initiative, which aims to create special memories for patients and their families.

Natasha Smith, our Sylvan Ward Sister, described the occasion as a ‘truly unforgettable day’.

“Having the privileged of seeing patients and their families making memories together and the happiness this brought was just amazing. The nursing team reported seeing patients excited and emotionally comforted by the experience.

“At St Nicholas Hospice Care, we remain passionate about allowing individuals in our care to be supported to live their lives fully, and the experience with the donkey visit really demonstrated how committed we are to this aim.”

To create a long-lasting memory, we plan to print and frame the photos taken on the day to give as a gift to patients and their families.
