Bank Hospice Care Assistant (Ward)

St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity providing help, advice and support to people in West Suffolk and Thetford in the final chapters of their life, who are living with long-term and life-threatening illnesses. Our services are not just for patients, but for their family and friends too. They include everything from specialist medical care to bereavement support and practical help. St Nicholas Hospice is dedicated to its vision for everyone to matter in life and death.

We have a fantastic opportunity for passionate and committed care assistants to join our inpatient unit, Sylvan Ward on a bank contract basis.

A supportive team and an ideal environment to inspire excellent care

Our 12-bed unit is a well-supported setting where you work alongside a multidisciplinary team of fellow Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistants, specialist Medical team and Allied Health Professionals. Additionally, our volunteers bring plenty of positivity and invaluable support to our ward. This diversity of skills, knowledge and experience is fundamental to excellent care, and the ward’s friendly and supportive atmosphere.

Set in the grounds of our peaceful gardens, our Sylvan Ward offers a calming environment for palliative care. At the same time, inspired activities such as afternoon teas, pizza nights and donkey visits make for lasting memorable moments; these are some of the most wonderful examples of holistic care our teams create for our patients and families.

The Hospice team works with patients and their families who:
• have a condition or conditions requiring symptom management whilst in the last chapter of their life
• have a severe chronic disease for whom a deterioration may be life-limiting
• are in frail overall health and at risk of sudden deterioration
This rewarding role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patients and their families get the care they need.

• Free onsite parking
• Onsite catering
