St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity providing help, advice and support to people in West Suffolk and Thetford in the final chapters of their life, who are living with long-term and life-threatening illnesses. Our services are not just for patients, but for their family and friends too. They include everything from specialist medical care to bereavement support and practical help. We are looking for an Assistant Shop manager, with a passion for pre-loved goods to support the team at our Barton Road shop!
This is an exciting time to be joining our retail team as we plan to grow our income and develop a new business strategy. By adding a little love to our shops, we hope to not only increase vital income, but elevate the shopping experience for our community.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Management: Assisting in the supervision and development of shop staff and volunteers.
Sales and Operations: Supporting the Shop Manager in achieving sales targets, managing stock, and maintaining high retail standards.
Customer Service: Delivering excellent customer service and fostering a positive shopping experience.
Commercial Awareness: Contributing to ideas for driving sales and maximising donations.
Flexibility: Working weekends as required, due to the seven-day trading nature of the store.
Skills and Experience:
Customer Service Experience: Proven experience in a customer-facing role.
Supervisory Experience: Some experience in a supervisory or team leadership position.
Commercial Acumen: Ability to identify and implement strategies to increase sales and donations.
People Skills: Ability to motivate and develop team members.
Adaptability: Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
