Practice Educator

St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity providing help, advice and support to people in West Suffolk and Thetford who are living with long-term and life-threatening illnesses. Our services are not just for patients, but for their family and friends too. They include everything from specialist medical care to bereavement support and practical help. St Nicholas Hospice is dedicated to its vision that everyone in our communities has support, dignity and choice when facing dying, death and grief.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Practice Educator to work closely with the Hospice Education collaborative across the Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care System (ICS) to ensure a holistic and consistent approach to the delivery of palliative care across the system.

The postholder will also be responsible for leading the development of clinical practice education within the Hospice, working alongside our clinical staff to ensure the provision of high quality, safe and compassionate care.

Hours: 30 per week (some flexibility on working hours will be required to ensure educational activity can be provided across shift patterns).

As a registered nurse you will have experience of working within palliative or end of life care, with extensive experience of teaching, mentoring and developing clinical staff. We are seeking someone who can develop creative approaches to the delivery of palliative care learning and development, as well as having a passion and commitment to the values of the hospice. You must be highly organised and have excellent communication and relationship building skills.

We are looking for an appropriately qualified registered nurse, with proven experience of working in palliative care and planning, delivering and evaluating education and training. The successful candidate should demonstrate a good understanding of research, with an up-to-date knowledge of palliative care.
