St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity providing help, advice and support to people in West Suffolk and Thetford in the final chapters of their life, who are living with long-term and life-threatening illnesses. Our services are not just for patients, but for their family and friends too. They include everything from specialist medical care to bereavement support and practical help. St Nicholas Hospice is dedicated to its vision for everyone to matter in life and death.
Our catering team ensure that a varied and nutritious menu is available to our patients, visitors and employees both in our on-site Bistro and on our Sylvan Ward. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Chef to join our catering team.
As a Chef at St Nicholas Hospice Care, you will: plan menus to a standard which meets culinary, nutritional, budgetary and dietary requirements, adapting at short notice to meet patient need, ensure the smooth day to day running of the kitchen, prepare, cook and serve food and beverages for patients, employees and visitors and more.
The ideal candidate will be flexible in their approach, able to communicate with a variety of staff, patients and families and have experience working as a chef/cook, preferably in a healthcare setting. As a chef you may be required to work additional hours covering annual leave and weekends from time to time, so flexibility and commitment is essential.
