Shop Supervisor – Barton Road, Bury St Edmunds

Due to relocating our Warehouse facility to an exciting new premises, and increasing the size of one of our well established existing shops, we are looking to recruit a Shop Supervisor. Can you help us make the most out of every donation, develop a strong community presence and generate vital income for St Nicholas Hospice Care?

St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity providing help, advice and support to people in West Suffolk and Thetford in the final chapters of their life, who are living with long-term and life-threatening illnesses. Our services are not just for patients, but for their family and friends too. They include everything from specialist medical care to bereavement support and practical help. St Nicholas Hospice is dedicated to its vision for everyone to matter in life and death.

The successful applicant will, amongst other duties, be responsible for the following:

• Support the day-to-day running of the shop, assisting the Shop Manager and volunteers
• Contribute to meeting agreed on sales targets set by the Shop Manager.
• Processing sales using the Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) system.
• Provide high-quality customer service ensuring that everyone has a positive experience engaging with the Hospice.
• Actively encourage donors to complete Gift Aid forms for donated items, motivating volunteers to sign up donors.
• Responsible for opening and closing the shop, cashing up, banking and completing reconciliation procedures in the Managers absence.
• Ensure that all donations are stored and handled using the correct procedures.

Required:

• Supervisory experience
• Ability to motivate a team of volunteers
• Deputising in the absence of the shop manager, to include opening, closing and running of the shop
• Experience of charity retail preferred
