Staff and volunteers have a key role in next steps

St Nicholas Hospice Care staff and volunteers will play a key role as we look at designing our future services.

The Hospice’s Listen Learn Adapt process is an ongoing process. Phase one of this work is already under way and a key part of this work will be two workshops which staff and volunteers will be invited to attend.

Workshop one

During this workshop the group will work to map out our existing services and the systems we use which create and influence the experiences those touched by Hospice have.

By gaining the input of staff and volunteers from across the Hospice this workshop will ensure a comprehensive view of not only what those using our services experience, but what it takes to deliver our current services.

This is especially important as any future service model will depend on everyone being able to implement it, so it’s imperative our people are involved in this work

Workshop goals

• Understand the current services and the experience of delivering it.

• Build a picture of the community around the services, highlighting areas that need further knowledge or exploration.

• Narrow down focus areas for the project.

Workshop two

Those taking part in this half day workshop will align and review the work done in workshop one. The group will work to further define focus areas as phase one continues.

Workshop goals

• Process insight gained from workshop one.

• Add or amend any missing information that may provide a more complete picture.

• Define a focus area and direction of the project.

• Refine project goals.

Following the completion of these workshops a third will follow. This session will focus on training our staff and volunteers so they can speak to people about their experiences of death, dying and bereavement.
