Volunteer’s marathon effort

Pamela Bailey, a volunteer with our Psychological Services Team, will be donning her walking shoes and tackling her final ever marathon, and she’ll be doing it in aid of the Hospice.

The Midsummer Marathon will be a Nordic walking marathon and will take place on June 29, 2023. It will follow a route from Wroxham to Whitwell.

Pamela explains: “I have been Nordic walking for about 10yrs and have walked several marathons over the years and taken part in various events with Positive Steps. I want to complete one more Marathon in this my eightieth year.

“So, with some Nordic walking friends and led by Kevin and Sara of Positive Steps, I will be walking the 26.2 miles from Wroxham to Whitwell on June 29th.

“Why I wonder!?

“I have been a volunteer at St Nicholas Hospice Care for 23 years and have met many wonderful people – patients, families and staff.

“I strongly believe in the ethos of the hospice movement, which reaches beyond the patient to encompass the whole family for as long as it is needed. Now more than ever do, we need to support the wonderful work the Hospice does.

“This Marathon is for the Hospice, and I hope you will support me with your sponsorship for this venture.”
