The Hidden Gardens of Bury delights visitors in another successful year raising more than £22,000

The much-loved Hidden Gardens of Bury event has once again proved a great success, with more than 1,600 visitors enjoying a day of discovery, wonderful outdoor spaces all in support of local hospice care.

Held on Sunday, 14 June, the event invited people to explore a collection of beautiful private gardens across Bury St Edmunds, many of which are not usually open to the public.

Now in its 39th year, the Hidden Gardens of Bury, sponsored by Bedfords Estate Agents and Greene & Greene solicitors, continues to be a highlight in St Nicholas Hospice Care’s events calendar, bringing together garden owners, volunteers and visitors in support of the charity.

Throughout the day, visitors were able to wander at their own pace, discovering a variety of hidden spaces while enjoying refreshments, music, and the unique character of each garden.

The event has raised more than £22,000 to support St Nicholas Hospice Care’s work, helping provide compassionate, specialist care and support for people and families across West Suffolk and Thetford who are facing dying, death and grief.

Charlie De-Moore, Events and Community Fundraising Manager at St Nicholas Hospice Care, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with how this year’s Hidden Gardens of Bury has gone. It was wonderful to see so many people coming together to enjoy a special day out while supporting their local hospice.

“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part. From the garden owners who so generously opened their gates, to the volunteers who gave their time, and of course every single visitor who bought a ticket. Events like this make a real difference, helping us to continue being there for people and families in our community when they need us most.

“A special thank you goes to the event’s sponsors, Bedfords Estate Agents and Greene & Greene solicitors, for their continued support, helping to ensure that as much of the money raised as possible goes directly towards the hospice’s care.”
