Teams needed for charity’s cross-Channel fundraising adventure

The Hospice is hoping those with a love of cars will take up a place at the starting line and sign up to take part in their challenge event Bangers 2 Bordeaux.

Setting off from the Evans Halshaw Car Store, in Crane Blvd, Ipswich, on Friday, 24 April, the journey will see teams drive a car costing £500 or less through France to a selected chateau in the Bordeaux region.

Challengers will have 48-hours to get to the chateau pick up a bottle of wine and then travel back to the car showroom for Sunday, 26 April.

Along the way, there will be tasks to complete, with points awarded to those who make the best use of their time.

Rachel Card, corporate fundraiser, said: “This is the first time the hospice has organised an event of this kind, and we are all really excited about our Bangers 2 Bordeaux challenge, and hope as many teams as possible will take part and help raise much-needed funds for the hospice.

“Relying on camaraderie and teamwork, those taking part will have to think on their feet as precise information about the route will not be released until an hour before they set off.

“Teams will need to arm themselves with maps, Sat Navs and at least one member who with the ability to think outside the box.

“A big thank you to Evans Halshaw Car Store for your support.”

Teams must consist of four people, with a £250 entry fee per team (entry fee includes the cost of the Channel crossing), they are also (jointly) asked to try to raise £500 for the charity, which cares for those across the area living with dying, death and grief.

Extra points will be awarded to those who exceed the fundraising target, with the winning team receiving £500.

If you would like to enter a team, or for more information, please contact Rachel Card, Corporate Fundraiser on 01284 715560 or email rachel.card@stnh.org.uk. You can also sign up online here
