Sign up now as hospice’s 10K run returns for 2026

Runners of all abilities are being encouraged to lace up their trainers as registrations open for the St Nicholas Hospice Care 10K Run, returning to Bury St Edmunds this September.

Taking place on Sunday, 27 September 2026, the much-loved event will once again start and finish on Angel Hill, with hundreds of runners expected to take part in support of local hospice care.

Following the success of previous years, the hospice is inviting people to secure their place early and be part of what has quickly become a highlight of the local events calendar.

Sponsored once again by Skechers Performance, the scenic 10K route will take runners through the iconic Abbey Gate and Abbey Gardens, along sections of closed road and out towards Moreton Hall, before returning to the town centre.

Whether taking on a first challenge or aiming for a personal best, the event offers something for everyone, all while raising vital funds for St Nicholas Hospice Care, which supports people across West Suffolk and Thetford facing dying, death and grief.

Charlie De Moore, Events and Fundraising Manager, at St Nicholas Hospice Care, said: “We are so excited to welcome the community back for our St Nicholas Hospice Care 10K Run this September. The event has grown year on year and the atmosphere on the day is always incredible.

“Whether you are a seasoned runner or giving it a go for the first time, this is a fantastic way to challenge yourself while supporting local families who rely on hospice care. Every step taken really does make a difference. As a charity we need to raise or save £18,000 each single day and funds raised from events like this one help ensure our care can be there for people when they need it most.”

Participants can expect chip timed results, a finisher’s medal, which is supported by medal sponsor Bluesys IT Services, plus post-race refreshments, as well as plenty of support along the route.

On Angel Hill, an event village will bring together supporters, families and spectators, with music and stalls creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere throughout the event.
