Ray remembered in charity pool competition

A long serving pool player was remembered by his friends in a charity memorial pool competition.

Ray Thorpe, from Red Lodge, died in November 2013 after battling cancer, before his death Ray was cared for and his family supported by St Nicholas Hospice Care.

The event, the third of its kind, was organised by Scott Davidson and saw 28 members of the Studlands A Team, which Ray had been a member of for 17 years, battle it out to take home the Ray Thorpe Memorial Shield.

Miranda McCoy, Hospice Community Fundraiser said: “Thank you to everyone who supported and played in the third Ray Thorpe Memorial Pool Competition. A lot of businesses really got behind this event and donated some fantastic raffle prizes.

“We really appreciate the help and support from everyone involved – their help makes a huge difference to those in our care at the Hospice and across the wider community.”

The event, which took place on November 26, raised £500.
