Hospice benefits from community celebration

Live music and fun for all the family made sure 2017’s longest day of the year was celebrated in style and funds were raised for local charities.

To celebrate this year’s summer solstice Barton Mills was filled with the sound of music as the Bell Lane Solstice raised funds for St Nicholas Hospice care as well as the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Barton Mills Football Club.

With entertainment from all the family including music from Revival, Sea Snakes, Curtis Cronin and many more the event, which took place on June 17, raised £500 for the Hospice.

The team, who handed over the money they had raised for the charity last Friday (21 July) wanted the occasion to benefit the hospice this year as a number of people in the village have been cared for by the charity and they wanted to be able to give something back.

Miranda McCoy, St Nicholas Hospice Care community fundraiser, said: “Thank you to Trace, Robert, Barry and Angie and everyone who helped to make the Bell Lane Solstice such a wonderful success.

“Every single penny our fundraisers raise for us means we can continue to care for those across our community, as well as allowing us to support their families when they need it most.

“The money raised from this event will make a big difference to us, thank you to everyone who supported what sounded like a fabulous day.”
