Golfers tee off to raise cash

Golfers packed onto the fairways at Haverhill Golf Club to raise £1,251.51 for our Hospice by taking part in the Jan Bowers and Past Member Memorial Trophy.

The event, the second if its kind, was organised by Peter Bowers, a current member and former captain at the Haverhill golf club. Peter’s wife Jan was cared for by the Hospice in her final days.

The charity day, which took place on Saturday, 17 September, saw 82 players join in the fundraising efforts, a raffle and barbecue also added to the final amount. A karaoke event also took place in the evening.

Peter said: “The support I have had has been brilliant. I had a lot of support last year and to have that again was great.

“Chapman and Son kindly donated a television again to act as the main raffle prize and I couldn’t have done it without the help of Marion Farrant, Helen Scott and Teresa Spittle, and everyone else who supported the event.”

There have been a few times that Golf clubs have hit a hole in one with fundraisers for us. Read about Bury St Edmund’s Golf Club here.
