Friends will be shooting hoops to raise funds

A group of friends will be aiming to shoot hoops for 12 hours straight when they team up to take on a Basketball-athon in aid of St Nic’s.

Known as The Brawlers, the group, which includes the Hospice’s Corporate Fundraising Manager Abby Mayes, will be taking on their challenge later this month.

Joining Abby will be Adrian Doe, Stephen Wigzell, Simon Byford, Alice Schute, Ernest Isokpehi, Phil Smith, Jess Darnell, Oscar Darnell, Kellie Hewitson, Matt Bullock, Tom Lockwood, Matt Coe and Xav Robinson.

Due to various commitments, the only time the group can manage to get together to play a game is 5.30am on a Friday morning.

However, despite being used to an early start, the friends have decided this fundraising endeavour will be tackled overnight, and they will be playing basketball from 6pm on Saturday, 28 May, to 6am on Sunday, 29 May.

Abby said: “We all love basketball, and thought that this challenge will be fun, tough, and love the idea of helping St Nic’s.”

The Basketball-athon will take place at South Lee Sports Centre.
