Euston Rural Pastimes set to return to raise funds

Plans are well under way for the 26th Euston Rural Pastimes event, which takes place on Sunday, 10 June and raises funds for St Nicholas Hospice Care and local churches.

The country fair, which showcases crafts and country skills in the picturesque setting of Euston Park, will feature three large show rings and a packed timetable of events.

One of the highlights for the occasion will be performances by the Kangaroo Kid.  As one of the most prolific stunt riders in the world, Matt Coulter, will entertain visitors with his unique quad bike stunts which he performs in shows all over the UK.

Other attractions also include: Scurry and trials; vintage tractors; steam and stationary engines; classic vehicles; heavy horses and foals; music; Morris dancing; The Sheep Show; children’s amusements; trade stands as well as food outlets and a licensed bar.

The event’s Flower Festival, which will be held in St Genevieve Church, also promises to be a prominent feature. With the theme this year being ‘Our Sceptred Isle’ visitors will be able to enjoy the displays put together by a host of talented local people.

Jane Harland, of the event’s organising committee, said: “This year’s Euston Rural Pastimes is shaping up to be the best yet. We will have the ever-popular flower festival, ring events, sheep dog trials, a host of vehicles on display and heavy horses, which are always a big attraction.

“We hope as many people come and join us for what promises to be a great day out for all the family.”

The country fair is open from 10am-6pm. Entry costs £10 per adult, £5 for children aged five-12 (under fives free).

For more information and to buy tickets in advance, go to www.eustonruralpastimes.org.uk. Tickets are also available on the gate too. Dogs on leads are also welcome on the showground.

The event is at Euston Park, on the A1088 between Thetford and Ixworth, in Suffolk (sat nav IP14 2QH).
