Call for gardens to open their gates in aid of Hospice

Glorious gardens of all shapes and sizes are needed as St Nicholas Hospice Care wants to see its open gardens programme blossom.

The charity, which cares for those across west Suffolk and Thetford with long-term and life-threatening conditions, needs people who would be willing to join the many green-fingered villages and towns already show-casing their blooms to raise funds.

Hospice community fundraiser Miranda McCoy said: “We are very lucky to have a varied open gardens programme that showcases a wealth of different gardens across west Suffolk and south Norfolk, but we know there are lots of unseen gems yet to be discovered.

“We would love for our events to continue to grow and are keen to welcome even more gardens to join us.

“You might be part of a community of gardeners or someone who is willing to go it alone and show-off your efforts and help us raise the funds we need to continue providing our services across the area –  if you think you could help it would be great to hear from you.”

Everyone who agrees to open their garden to raise funds will receive an informative tool kit, letting them know how the charity is able to support their efforts, plus a mention in the hospice’s garden events magazine and website.

The toolkit will include advice on the production of advertising materials, collection tins, balloons as well as help on the day and further fundraising ideas.
