Let’s talk about death and dying: St Nicholas Hospice Care marks Dying Matters Awareness Week
St Nicholas Hospice Care is inviting people across West Suffolk and Thetford to join the conversation about death, dying and grief during Dying Matters Awareness Week, which runs from Monday 4 to Sunday 10 May 2026.
Led nationally by Hospice UK, Dying Matters Awareness Week is an annual campaign encouraging more open, honest conversations about dying, death and bereavement. This year’s theme “Let’s talk about Death and Dying” highlights the importance of timely discussions that can help people feel more informed, supported and prepared.
Throughout the week, St Nicholas Hospice Care will be hosting information stalls in some of their shops designed to create safe, welcoming spaces for conversation and information‑sharing.
Everyone is invited to attend the relaxed, informal drop‑ins, where the hospice team will be available to talk about the support the Hospice offers and to share resources.
On Tuesday, 5 May, the information stall will be at the hospice’s Barton Road shop from 10am-3pm, in their Mildenhall shop at the same times on Wednesday, 6 May and then at the charity’s Haverhill Hub on Thursday, 7 May, also from 10am-3pm.
In addition, the hospice will host a GraveTalk session on Wednesday, 6 May, 2–3pm, at the Hospice, Hardwick Lane.
Open to all, GraveTalk offers an opportunity for people to learn from one another in a supportive environment where questions about death, dying and grief can be shared and explored together.
All events are free to attend, and no booking is required.
