Dr Pat Murrell returns with the latest in her series of popular lectures, Step Back in Time, in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care.
Among the cases reviewed here by Pat Murrell will be the attempted murder of Edward Crispe, which shocked Bury’s polite society, and the killing of Mary Booty. The latter permanently damaged a prominent local tradesman’s reputation and possibly resulted, sadly, in a grave miscarriage of justice with the execution of Betty Burroughs for the crime. Also featured – an unpremeditated stabbing; infanticide; self-murder and a couple of shootings.
Refreshments of cakes and biscuits made to recipes of the period are included in the ticket price.
This event takes place on Thursday, 25 April at 8pm (doors open at 7.30pm), at the United Reformed Church, Whiting Street, Bury St Edmunds.
Tickets £10 (previous events have sold out, advance booking is essential).
Tickets can be bought online by clicking the button below, or from our St John’s Street shop in Bury St Edmunds town centre.
Thank you to Dr Murrell for your continued support of St Nic’s.
