Hospice shop needs some extra help to open for longer

Staff and volunteers at St Nicholas Hospice Care’s Barton Road shop are looking for people willing to join their ranks and support them to increase the store’s opening hours.

It is hoped the Barton Road store will soon be able to open on a Sunday, which means its existing team needs to add to its numbers.

The shop’s manager Claire Davis said: “We’d love to welcome new people to our team. We rely so much on the dedication of our volunteers, who all give their time and skills so generously.

“Opening the shop on a Sunday would enable us to raise more money for the hospice, and it is something we are all passionate about doing. All we need is a little extra help, so please, if you think you can support us, just get in touch.

“We’re a great team to be part of, and volunteering for us is varied and enjoyable as well as a chance to get more involved in the local community and give something back.”

Ideally, the shop needs around four extra volunteers on a Sunday between 11am and 3pm who could help with sorting donations, serving customers, and using the till. No experience is necessary, and full training and support will be given.

If you’d like to support the shop but can’t commit to a Sunday, the team would also welcome extra help throughout the week.
