Crafter uses hobby to support St Nic’s

A beautiful selection of handmade crafts has pride of place in one of our shops thanks to supporter Barbara Nunn-Clarke, who has turned a much-loved hobby into a way to fundraise for us.

Having one night picked up her computer tablet and sent an email to the Hospice to see if she could support us, Barbara, was put in touch with Claire Davis, our New Goods Manager.

Having put their heads together, the pair have grown the idea, and Barbara’s amazing crafts are now filling up our Barton Road shop.

In the first two days of having her stock on display, 16 items were sold. With 50 per cent of all profits from all sales going to the Hospice.

All of the items are completely handcrafted and painted, and many are made from recyclable and sustainable materials. Currently on sale are Christmas notebooks, Christmas tree decorations, festive cards, calendars and much more.

Calling her crafting a labour of love, Barbara is determined to keep up her efforts to raise as much for us as possible.

Barbara said: “The Hospice means so much to everyone. It affects everyone in some shape or form through relations to friends to people you bump into on the street. We all need the Hospice.”

Although at the moment, Barbara’s items are only on sale in our Barton Road shop, Claire is hoping to add them to the shelves of some of our other boutique stores. The initiative is also supported by the shop’s manager Andrew Green and supervisor, Teresa Sayer.

With plenty of festive-themed items, shoppers are invited to visit the shop, have a browse and perhaps buy something extra special for themselves or as a gift.
