How can I support St Nicholas Hospice Care more?

The St Nic’s Cycle Ride is in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care, so make your ride count.

By signing up, you’re not only challenging yourself, you’re supporting those facing dying, death and grief in West Suffolk and Thetford.

Why not turn your ride into a fundraiser? Set up a JustGiving page or download a sponsorship form to help provide much-needed hospice services.

The Fundraising Team at St Nicholas Hospice Care is your point of contact. We can support you every step of the way and give you ideas to help you reach your fundraising target.

Every kilometre you cover will help patients and their loved ones when they need it most. It costs around £8 million to run the Hospice each year. That’s equivalent to £22,000 per day. We receive some statutory funding, which covers around 20% of our costs. But we still need to raise a further £17,500 each day, and it is people like you that help us do that. Whether that’s making a donation, leaving a gift in your Will or raising sponsorship for our events just like this! It is only because of you that those facing dying, death and grief in our local community can receive the support and care they need.

Will there be refreshments along the routes?

There will be some refreshment points for the routes on offer, however, due to the size of routes on offer, we cannot offer multiple refreshment points. We will provide lists of pubs, and shops along the routes where riders can purchase refreshments.

What is the minimum age for participants?

The minimum age for participants is 8 years old. There is no upper age limit. Participants aged between 8 and 17 years of age must be always accompanied by a responsible adult during the event. All adults are responsible for the capability of those participants who are under 18 years old.

All participants must have either completed a cycling proficiency test or have adequate experience of cycling on public highways. Additionally, all participants (regardless of age) must agree to the ‘Fit to Participate’ declaration as part of the registration process.

What measures are in place for participant safety?

The St Nic’s Cycle Ride will take place on open roads, however, all riders will be supplied with a bike tag, with emergency contact numbers, should assistance be required.

There will be first aid at the event, covered by Challenge First Aid.

East Anglian Community Assistance Team (EA-CAT) will also be patrolling the routes and will be acting as route support.
