Light up a Life Terms and Conditions
Sharing the names of your loved ones to be read at our services
To ensure that your loved one’s name is read out at your chosen service, please note each individual deadline:
Sudbury: Friday 26 November
Lavenham: Monday 29 November
Thetford: Wednesday 8 December
Bury St Edmunds: Friday 10 December
Mildenhall: Monday 13 December
Newmarket: Wednesday 15 December
Haverhill: Friday 17 December
Please note, all names submitted will be shared in our online book of remembrance.
We are now in Step 4 of the UK Government roadmap, meaning that there are no restrictions regarding social distancing, numbers at events or any other rules hosting events. However, St Nicholas Hospice Care is a health organisation, and we have to be mindful of those attending our Light up a Life event. We are always monitoring the situation and reviewing our procedures and Covid policy and will make changes when necessary.
As always, the safety and welfare of those attending Light up a Life events, our staff, volunteers, and supportive community is, and remains, paramount to us. We’d ask that you support the additional measures that will be in place.
Those who feel unwell
If you have any of the COVID-19 symptoms we’d ask that you do not attend our Light up a Life events, and follow all government advice. For more guidance and support, please visit the government’s coronavirus website, by clicking here.
Should you have a positive COVID-19 case within your own household or are a close contact of someone with COVID-19 and still wish to attend one of our Light up a Life events, we expect the government’s current guidance on self-isolation exceptions to be followed. They can be found here.
You’re not required to self-isolate if you live in the same household as someone with COVID-19 or are a close contact of someone with COVID-19, and any of the following apply:
• you’re fully vaccinated
• you’re below the age of 18 years and 6 months
• you’ve taken part in or are currently part of an approved COVID-19 vaccine trial
• you’re not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons
Upon entry to each venue, we will ask guests to sanitise their hands.
We would strongly encourage all attendees at the services to wear a face covering within a crowded setting. We would recommend face coverings are worn during singing.
Venues will be aware of their maximum capacity and how they can allow space between groups of people. If applicable, we’d ask that everyone follows any measures put in place by each individual venue.
In order to reduce the risk of people gathering, we will offer a battery operated LED candle to each guest upon entry. This candle can be kept with you during the event and then you may take it home with you. Before touching the box of candles, we request hands are sanitised.
Making a donation
If you’d like to make a donation towards our work we’d be most grateful. There will be donation buckets at all of our events, and we can take donations through contactless card payments.
If St Nicholas Hospice Care has to cancel the services scheduled in the community, there will be an online service, broadcast on Tuesday 21st December, from 6pm. Details and the link for this service will be shared on our website. Any names that have been submitted for the service, will be read out at this online service if the services are cancelled. St Nicholas Hospice Care will aim to contact attendees to the services by the details provided, and it will also be shared on our website, and social media pages, if the event is cancelled.
Using your data
Protecting your data – St Nicholas Hospice Care will only ever use your data in relevant and meaningful ways to you. This means only contacting you about your areas of interest.
You can learn more about data protection and how to change your preferences at www.stnicholashospice.org.uk/yourdata or by picking up the phone and speaking to our team on 01284 766133.
By submitting this form, you are confirming that the information provided will be used as part of St Nicholas Hospice Care’s Light up a Life event which includes your content being uploaded online to its website and social media, as part of the online book of remembrance.
Promotion and publicity
At the event, Hospice photographers and videographers may capture images for use in publicity. If you are uncomfortable with your image being used in future publicity, please notify the Hospice’s Fundraising Team in writing, and/or express your wishes to those photographing on the day.
Our Light up a Life events create a space where people can come together to remember and reflect on the lives of loved ones. If anyone is unable to meet our terms and conditions we reserve the right to ask them to leave.
