Donation Centre Volunteer – Various Roles

We have a variety of roles available at our Donation Centre – is there one for you?

At St Nicholas Hospice Care, our retail teams run welcoming, well stocked shops across West Suffolk, where pre-loved items are given a second chance to shine by our wonderful staff and volunteers.

Our Donation Centre, based at Barton Road, have a number of opportunities available and we’re looking for enthusiastic new volunteers to fill them.

Warehouse Assistant or Driver’s Mate

We’re looking for people to help move furniture, load and unload deliveries and collections from our vans, and pack items to go to our various shops around the region. You’ll need to be physically fit for this role, keeping things moving as our furniture items sell quickly!

Clothes Sorters

We’re fortunate enough to receive a high volume of donated goods, including clothes, linens and shoes, which all need sorting before they can go onto the shop floor or off to another shop. Whether you just like to help keep our stock moving swiftly, or have an eye for high value fashion, this is a crucial but varied role, where no two bags are the same!

Book Scanning

If you know your Dan Brown from your Julia Donaldson, then book sorting may be the role for you. Charity shop book hunting is having a revival – help our customers to find a Book-tok worthy haul!

In return for your efforts as a volunteer in any of these roles, you’ll become part of a warm and productive retail community who are passionate about what they do. You’ll also be invited to join us at hospice social events throughout the year.
