Experience the wonder of spectacular fireworks lighting up the historic skies above Bury St Edmunds’ Abbey Gardens, all in support of St Nicholas Hospice Care.

The event is being organised in partnership by event partners St Edmundsbury Theatre Services and St Nicholas Hospice Care, and Bury St Edmunds Town Council.

The event will take place on Saturday, 1 November in the historic Abbey Gardens, offering an evening of entertainment and community spirit. On the night, gates (position at the Abbey Gate) will open at 5pm, with the fireworks display scheduled for 7.30pm.

Every ticket sold will help St Nicholas Hospice Care to provide compassionate support to individuals and families facing dying, death, and grief across West Suffolk and Thetford.

When and where is the fireworks display taking place?

The event takes place on Saturday, 1 November, in the Abbey Gardens. Gates open at 5pm, positioned at the Abbey Gate, and the fireworks will begin at 7:30pm.

How much do the tickets cost?

General sale:

  • Adult (over 18) – £7.50
  • Child (under 18s) – £5.00
  • Family: up to two adults, two children (under 18) – £20.00
  • All general sale tickets subject to an additional booking fee.
  • On the gate: £10 per ticket

All spectators must have a ticket to be presented at entry. There will be an opportunity to purchase tickets online and at the gate, depending on the venue’s capacity. Entry is permitted only with a valid ticket. Lost or stolen tickets will not be replaced.

Can I bring my own fireworks or sparklers?

For safety reasons, the following items are strictly prohibited: personal fireworks, sparklers, or any flammable items alcohol, illegal substances, weapons, drones, glass containers, and pets (except service animals). Upon entry into the Abbey Gardens, we will implement bag searches.

Will there be food and drinks available?

Yes, we will have food vendors on-site offering hot food. Greene King will also be attending with their beer truck. There will be amusements and a small funfair for children.

Can I bring my dog or other pets?

As part of our event Terms and Conditions, no pets are permitted due to safety reasons.

Where can I park?

What happens if it rains?

The event will go ahead in light rain. However, the event may be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. The Event Organisers will monitor weather forecasts and share updates via St Nicholas Hospice Care’s social media pages, website, and contact ticketholders via email.

If the event is cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control, we will offer refunds through our ticket provider, Ticketsource.

Abbey Gardens Firework Display - Terms and Conditions

Event Details

The Fireworks Night – Abbey Gardens, Bury St Edmunds, takes place on Saturday, 1 November.

Gates open at 5pm, and the fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 7.30pm. After the display, there will be stage entertainment before the event closes at 9pm.

The schedule is subject to change due to weather or any other unforeseen circumstances.

Ticket information

All spectators must have a ticket to be shown at entry. There will be an opportunity to purchase tickets online and at the gate, depending on the venue’s capacity. Entry is permitted only with a valid ticket. Lost or stolen tickets will not be replaced.

All tickets are non-refundable, unless the event is cancelled by the organisers—further details are covered in our Cancellation Policy below.

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Safety and responsibility

All ticketholders are responsible for their own health and well-being. Ticketholders enter the venue at their own risk.

All ticketholders must follow all safety instructions provided by Event Staff and Stewards.

Disorderly, abusive, or dangerous behavior will result in removal from the event without refund.

The Event Organisers are not responsible for any personal injury, loss, or damage to property during the event.

Promotion and publicity

At the event, Hospice photographers and videographers will be capturing images for use in publicity. If you are uncomfortable with your image being used in future publicity, please notify the Hospice’s Fundraising Team in writing, and/or express your wishes to those taking images on behalf of the Hospice on the day.
