Syringe Pump Training – Part 1 – Theory.
This three hour session looks at the fundamentals of symptom control with syringe pumps in palliative care practice. You will need to have participated in this session to be able to progress to Part 2.
Syringe Pump Training – Part 2 – Practice.
This three hour session builds on the knowledge gained from Part 1 and looks at the practical side of syringe pump use. You will need to have completed Part 1 before attending this session.
Syringe Pump Training – Part 1 – Theory. Learning Objectives:
- Clinical indications for using a syringe pump.
- Identifying red flags.
- Symptoms palliated with syringe pump medications.
- Commonly used syringe pump medications, conversion calculations, normal doses and rationale for use.
Syringe Pump Training – Part 2 – Practice. Learning Objectives:
- Using the T34 McKinley Syringe Pump in practice – setting up, monitoring, trouble shooting.
- Case study workshop – applying knowledge gained to practice through case study scenarios.

Parking
Parking is limited at all three hospice sites so we ask that you park in accordance with the highway code as poor parking creates a reputational risk for the hospices with our neighbours. Thank you for your consideration.
Cancellation Policy
Please contact us at the earliest opportunity. We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for the cancellation of our courses. For cancellations within 48 hours of the event, any course fee paid will be retained. Fees will also be retained if you do not attend the session on the set date. All courses are subject to change or cancellation suitable notification will be provided.
