    As a supporter, you may receive telephone contact and post regarding news, events, and fundraising from us, so you can hear how your support makes a difference and learn of other ways to get involved.

  • Requirements Under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974

    Because of the nature of the work for which you are applying this post is exempt from the provisions of Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975.

    Therefore applicants may not withhold information about convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings which would not be filtered in line with current guidance, and, in the event of volunteering, failure to disclose when asked any convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings that are not “protected” under the provisions of the Act (as amended in 2013) could result in disciplinary action or dismissal by the Hospice.

    Criminal Record Disclosures
    In addition to the above, St Nicholas Hospice Care uses the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to help assess the suitability of applicants. The appointment to some Hospice posts will be made subject to a disclosure check, and barred lists checks and may check whether you are barred from with working with vulnerable adults and/or children. Disclosure will not necessarily bar you from volunteering with St Nicholas Hospice Care. This will depend on the circumstances and background of your offences, and also relevance to the post.
