Grace’s efforts saw hundreds raised

A young fundraiser proved age certainly wasn’t a barrier as her determined efforts saw almost £500 raised.

Eight year old Grace Annis has proved she has first rate business sense by raising £494.11 for St Nicholas Hospice Care with a sweet stall at her school’s Christmas fair.

Grace decided to raise funds as a way to give something back after she lost her uncle, Mark Annis, at the hospice three-years-ago.

Since Mark’s death, supported by her family, the Howard Primary School pupil has tried to fundraise for the hospice every year with her combined efforts now totalling £870.

This year Grace also had support from another charity who kindly donated £100 which enabled her to buy all of the treats she needed to make her sweet cones.

“I really enjoyed it. Everyone was buying a lot of sweets which was good,” said Grace.

Grace visited the hospice to hand over the money to George Chilvers, hospice community fundraiser.

George said: “It’s always wonderful to receive donations, but it’s particularly good when someone as young as Grace decides to support the Hospice.

“We are very grateful to Grace and all who supported her sweet stall. The money she has raised will make a difference and help to support people with long-term or life-threatening conditions and their loved ones.”
