Fundraising cyclists saddled up for St Nic’s

Climbing into the saddle has led to almost £11,000 being raised for us.

Some 195 riders pulled on their helmets and used their pedal power for St Nicholas Hospice Care on Sunday (11 July) when they took part in the charity’s cycle challenge The Edge.

So far the total raised from the event stands at £10,800, but that figure could go up as sponsorship from riders continues to come in.

Charlie De-Moore, the hospice’s events fundraiser, said: “It really was brilliant to see so many people out on their bikes supporting the hospice on Sunday, and we are so grateful to everyone who took part.

“Our sponsors Atkins Dellow were also behind us all of the way and our event partners Maglia Rosso did an amazing job too. We’re also grateful to Thomas Ridley Foodservice who provided refreshments for our riders, manned a water stop and entered a team.

“After having to cancel the event last year, it was great to see The Edge back for 2021, and to have raised £10,800 is brilliant.

“Support for events like The Edge is more important than ever for St Nic’s.”

The event sponsored by Atkins Dellow, saw cyclists tackle either 15, 30, 60 or 100-mile routes across the beautiful Suffolk countryside, all of which started and finished at Maglia Rosso cycling café in Hawstead, who were the event’s partners.

The funds raised from The Edge will help the hospice continue its work across the community supporting those facing dying, caring and grief.
