Fundraiser hopes CD will be a hit

A fundraiser will be giving his vocal chords a work out as he belts out a selection of hits in a bid to raise funds.

Ian Vickery hopes his fundraising efforts will prompt people to raise the volume and funds for the hospice, which supports people living with death, dying and grief.

Ian, who has lived locally in Bury St Edmunds for most of his life, has been singing and entertaining for more than 30 years. He was a member of the popular local band ‘The Johnny Haines Band’, and now enjoys performing at charity events.

A keen charity supporter, Ian hopes his latest project a CD called Heartbeats packed with some of the best-selling songs of the 60s and 70s, will help fund the work the charity does across West Suffolk and Thetford.

Ian said: “I want to help the hospice as I think it is a great local charity that has been wonderful to many of my friends over the years. It also helped me personally cope with bereavement after my wife Monica passed away.”

All proceeds from the sale of Heartbeats, which costs £5, will go to St Nicholas Hospice Care. The CD is available from the hospice’s shops.

Miranda McCoy, hospice community fundraiser, said: “The efforts of fundraisers like Ian mean that our charity is able to continue helping those across West Suffolk and Thetford who need our support.

“I thank Ian for thinking of us and I’m looking forward to listening to his music and hearing the hits he has selected.”

The CD, which includes hits like Sweet Caroline, Dream Baby and I can’t Help Falling in Love, was produced by Mosman Music with Frontroom Creative taking care of the design. Ian is also on the lookout for any bands who may want him to join them as a singer.
