The Plough Inn pub keeps on fundraising
Loose change and quizzing prowess has helped a local pub continue its fundraising efforts for a local charity.
The Plough Inn, at Brockley Green, which has supported St Nicholas Hospice Care for many years, recently handed over a welcome sum of £901.10.
The funds were collected through donations from the victorious teams in their monthly pub quiz, as well as a large whisky jar that sits on the bar for loose change.
The financial boost means since they took over the pub in 2008 landlady and landlord Kate and Kevin Wood have now raised £9,573 for the Hospice.
George Chilvers, St Nicholas Hospice Care Community Fundraiser, said: “We have been blown away by the generous support of the team at The Plough Inn. They really have encouraged the whole community to help in their fundraising efforts.
“To have raised more than £900 from donations from their pub quizzers is brilliant, but to have raised more than £9,500 over the years is phenomenal.
“The Hospice simply could not continue to provide the services it does without support like this.”
