35 stories for 35 years: Nicky’s Way given the royal seal of approval

Nicky’s Way, our bereavement support service for children, received the royal seal of approval in 2008, when it was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Launched in February 1999, Nicky’s Way is a programme where bereaved youngsters from West Suffolk and Thetford can meet others in the same situation and start to feel less lonely and isolated.

Upon winning the award, representatives attended a formal presentation at the Theatre Royal in July, where the Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk passed on a certificate signed by the Queen, and a piece of commemorative crystal.

This was followed by a children’s tea party in the theatre’s Green Room.
