St Nicholas Hospice Care welcomes second round of government funding

On Sunday (July 20) the Government officially announced that the remaining £75m from the £100m additional funding for hospices in England will begin making its way to hospices.

We’re pleased to welcome the government’s announcement, and we can share that our Hospice will receive £292,742.

Nationally, this £75 million investment is intended to support vital upgrades to hospice facilities, including specially adapted beds, rooms, and technology, helping to ensure the highest standards of end-of-life care.

Linda McEnhill, Chief Executive Officer at St Nicholas Hospice Care, said: “At St Nicholas Hospice Care we welcome this next phase of government investment, and I can confirm that the amount we will receive is £292,742.

“This funding will enable us to continue modernising our facilities and infrastructure so that we can offer the best possible environment and care for people and their families.

“We are grateful to Hospice UK for their continued advocacy on behalf of hospices nationally, and to our local MP for recognising the importance of this support.

“While this funding is for capital improvements and not running costs, it complements the actions, and difficult decisions we have taken to improving our financial position and to increase our reach.

“The incredible generosity of our community, means we can remain focused on building a sustainable future for our hospice care.

“Although, we do receive some statutory funding, currently we need to raise around £17,500 a day to do what we do, and we are grateful to all of those who support us, by fundraising, making donations, shopping in our shops and giving their time through volunteering.”
