Thetford Open Gardens, now in its thirteenth year, will see dozens of gardens open their gates to the community.
Rachel Woods, one of the organisers, said: “Our gardens range from small courtyards, filled with pots, through gardens with herbaceous borders and quiet patios for relaxation, to formal gardens with topiary and rivers flowing through them, and observation gardens backing onto the British Trust for Ornithology reserves. And as if that wasn’t enough diversity, this year we will have a knitted garden courtesy of the “Crafty cuppa club”.
“Thetford Open Gardens is a community event in the widest sense of the word, supported by many, who have been touched by the wonderful service the Hospice provides and those people often want to give something back.
“It is one of the nicest days in the Thetford calendar with people enjoying the gardens whatever the weather and frequently learning more about the place they live, whether it be roads they have never walked down before, making new like-minded gardening friends, stocking their gardens with new favourite plants or discovering the work behind the horticultural project supporting ex offenders.”
Programmes can be bought for £5 online in advance or on the day from Thetford Garden Centre (01842 763267), Thetford’s Great Information Centre (01842 751975) and Thetford’s market square.
This event is kindly organised by Rachel Woods, Sue Norman and Susie Dowling.
