Glasses will be raised as a popular beer and music festival returns for its third year, to raise funds for us.

The Charity Pakenham Beer and Musical Festival will take place in the historic village of Pakenham on Saturday, 25 May, at the recreation grounds. Last year, more than 1,500 people attended throughout the day, and it is hoped that visitor numbers will reach over 2,000 at this year’s event.

The Festival is organised by Pakenham Social Club, who also arrange a variety of other events to benefit the village and support local charities throughout the year. Those behind the festival have decided to support St. Nicholas Hospice Care in memory of a much-loved friend.

One of the organisers, John Speare, said: “Last year, we lost our dear friend and fellow Pakenham Social Club Committee Member Julia Haxby. Julia was very much loved and integral part of our team. In her last days, the hospice cared for Julia, and her husband Dan. Dan cannot praise the hospice enough for the support they both received.

“Everyone involved in the festival is a volunteer, and the whole village really does come together to help, so please join us for what will be a fantastic day and help us raise vital funds for a wonderful cause, too.”

“The support we have already received for the Pakenham Beer & Music Festival, particularly in the form of sponsorship, has been incredible. Our breweries, suppliers and advertisers have been so generous and we certainly could not hold events like this without them and our amazing volunteers!”

On the day, festival-goers will be able to enjoy more than 20 casks of real ale from a selection of local breweries as well as a wide range of other refreshments. The five excellent Bands will be performing throughout the afternoon and evening appealing to all musical tastes. There will also be some fantastic vendors on site this year offering a good choice of delicious hot and cold food.

Gates open at 1.00pm with the first band taking the stage at 2.15pm. There is ample parking and tickets are just £5 (Under 14’s free) and can be purchased on the day at the gate.

This is a third party event not organised by St Nicholas Hospice Care.
