Facts and figures
How much does it cost to run the Hospice? Where does the money come from?
Currently, we have an annual operating budget of £8 million, or £22,000 each day, and financial challenges are a constant reality for our Hospice and many others across the country.
While we receive some support from statutory funding, it covers only a fraction of our needs, leaving a significant shortfall to be met through fundraising. The uncertainty of statutory funding and the growing demand for our services make it clear, that sustainable and reliable income streams are more critical than ever.
We’re totally reliant on the goodwill of our community to keep the Hospice running, by generously giving their money or their time as volunteers.
Below are examples of how some of the funds raised could support St Nic’s:
- £22 could contribute to a child’s bereavement counselling session.
- £31 could go towards an hour of care for a patient on our Sylvan Ward this Christmas.
- £52 could help to provide several hours of symptom control and pain management, allowing families to enjoy a festive afternoon together, creating memorable moments.
- £101 could be a special Christmas gift of keeping a bed open over the winter months.
