Livework will help Hospice as part of process
An experienced team will help St Nicholas Hospice Care work towards creating a Hospice service model that will meet the needs of the community of West Suffolk and Thetford.
Currently there are more than 2,000 deaths in Suffolk each year, and we currently reach between five and six hundred of those deaths. This means we are not influencing the experiences of the majority of people who die in Suffolk. This is a driving force behind our Listen Learn Adapt process.
We want to be providing Hospice services based on the needs of the people in our community, not what we think people would want. To complete this work we are going to need some help. This isn’t about creating a model we can run with for the next couple of years it is about creating a flexible model fit for the future.
We are embarking on a process which will last for the life of the Hospice.
We will keep learning, we will keep listening and we will keep adapting. We need a hospice model that is much more flexible, one where people do not feel constrained, a model that best serves our community and their changing needs.
To do all of this we need independent help from people experienced in designing services. Livework, a service design consultancy, will help us complete this work.
Livework are going to help us, they are going to be a fresh pair of eyes, but this is our project. It is our staff who are going to be involved in the process, our staff who are going to have key roles and help us move forward.
Say hello to Livework
Livework is a global pioneer of service design. Founded in 2001, they are an independent, international, strategic design consultancy focused on customers and services.
They use design, collaboration and understanding to guide all of their projects and will work with us as part of the Listen Learn Adapt process.
There will be three members of the Livework Studio who will be helping us Liz LeBlanc, Gene Librow and Nick Manson
Liz explains: “Throughout this project we want to be part of the St Nic’s team. We will be transparent and open along the way sharing with everyone the progress we have made so everyone can see the momentum and feel involved.
“What everyone needs to know from the beginning is that we will never recommend anything for you that we wouldn’t feel comfortable doing ourselves.
“We are very excited to be working with all of you and looking forward to getting to know the Hospice better over the coming months.”
