Charity takeover raises more than £7,000

Teamwork ensured that a Charity Takeover with a difference proved a hit as more than £7,000 was raised for our Hospice by three local businesses.

This year’s Charity Takeover saw Treatt, Atkins Thomson and Towergate Insurance pull out all the stops as their friendly competition saw a grand total of  £7,123.73 raised.

It was a tasty takeover rather than a hostile takeover when our eventual winners of the competition Treatt took over the running of our Barton Road retail shop.

The Northern Way business raised an impressive total during the event which saw visitors sit back and enjoy coffee as well as cake and chocolate whilst having their cars washed.

Claudia Brackenborough from Treatt said: “Everyone had a brilliant day and it was fantastic to see staff all working together to raise as much money as possible for such a worthy cause.

“We had all sorts planned for the day, but what really made it special was the amount of support we received locally.

“We worked with our Northern Way neighbours, family chocolatiers Marimba, who provided some lovely cakes and chocolates, including a specially created truffle which contained a flavour specially developed by Treatt. Frank and Earnest were also on hand to provide the coffee.

“Everyone really did their best to make sure we raised as much as we could. We were absolutely amazed by how much we had managed to raise and so pleased.”

Keen supporters of the Hospice, Treatt were keen to make sure they pulled out all the stops for the charity, so spent three months planning their takeover bid, which also included a grand draw.

“There was a lot of planning that went into the event as we wanted to make it as big a success as possible. We had some fantastic prizes donated for the grand draw, we are so grateful for the support,” added Claudia.
