Gardeners’ efforts keep on growing funds
Blooming marvellous efforts have made sure a tenth Thetford Open Gardens event for our Hospice yielded a bumper crop with an impressive £11,206.39 raised.
It was initially hoped the two day event, which saw some 38 gardens of all shapes and sizes throw open their gates, would raise £10,000 for the charity, but hard work and determination saw this total grow.
Miranda McCoy, Community Fundraiser at St Nicholas Hospice Care said: “I am thrilled with the fantastic £11,206.39 our friends at Thetford Open Gardens have raised in this their tenth year.
“They have worked so hard – with pop up plant sales, open gardens, music concert and safari dinners to achieve this incredible total.
“We are very lucky to have such wonderful support and I would also like to thank all those in Thetford because you make the difference. Without our volunteers and money raised we wouldn’t exist. And we can carry on as our logo says ‘because you matter’.”
Even the bed weather couldn’t dampen the organisers’ enthusiasm after an evening concert had to be cancelled.
The event was rearranged for a later date and helped them beat their original fundraising target.
