Countdown to our 10K run is on

With less than a month to go until the return of the St Nicholas Hospice Care 10K Run, local runners are being encouraged to secure their place and be part of a popular fundraising event.

Taking place on Sunday 27 September 2026, the much-loved event will once again start and finish on Angel Hill, bringing together runners of all abilities to raise vital funds for local hospice care.

Sponsored by Skechers Performance, the scenic route will take participants through the iconic Abbey Gate and Abbey Gardens, along sections of closed road and out towards Moreton Hall before returning to the town centre.

With countdown now well underway, St Nicholas Hospice Care is urging anyone considering taking part to sign up soon and help make this year’s event the biggest yet.

Charlie De Moore, Events and Fundraising Manager at St Nicholas Hospice Care, said: “We’re now less than a month away from this year’s 10K Run and we’d love to see as many people as possible joining us on the start line.

“Whether you’re training for a personal best, taking on your first 10K, running with friends or fundraising in memory of a loved one, this event is a fantastic way to challenge yourself while making a real difference locally.

“The atmosphere on the day is always incredible and every entry helps support local people and families who rely on hospice care. If you’ve been thinking about signing up, now is the time to do it and be part of something special.”

The event offers something for everyone, whether runners are taking on a new challenge or aiming to achieve a personal best, all while supporting St Nicholas Hospice Care’s work across West Suffolk and Thetford.

Participants can look forward to chip-timed results, a finisher’s medal sponsored by Bluesys IT Services, post-race refreshments and plenty of support along the route. An event village on Angel Hill will also welcome supporters, families and spectators, helping create a lively atmosphere throughout the day.

As a local charity, St Nicholas Hospice Care relies heavily on community support to continue providing care and support to people facing dying, death and grief.
