St Nic’s Cycle Ride raises more than £20,000 for local hospice care
St Nicholas Hospice Care is celebrating after this year’s St Nic’s Cycle Ride raised an incredible £20,715.15 to support people across West Suffolk and Thetford facing dying, death and grief.
The popular fundraising event saw cyclists of all abilities take to the roads of Suffolk, choosing from a range of routes and coming together to support their local Hospice. The ride featured road routes of 25km, 50km and 100km, alongside a 65km gravel route, taking participants through some of the county’s most picturesque villages and countryside.
The event was kindly sponsored by Atkins Dellow and supported by event partner Maglia Rosso, which hosted the start and finish of the ride.
Charlie De Moore, Events and Fundraising Manager at St Nicholas Hospice Care, said: “We are absolutely delighted that this year’s St Nic’s Cycle Ride has raised £20,715.15 for the hospice.
“Every cyclist who took part has helped make a difference to local families who rely on our care and support. Whether riders completed the 25km route or tackled one of the longer challenges, they should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.
“As a charity we need to raise or save more than £18,000 every day, so events like the St Nic’s Cycle Ride play a vital role in helping us continue to provide specialist care and support across West Suffolk and Thetford.
“We are hugely grateful to everyone who took part, volunteered, sponsored the event or cheered riders on along the route.”
The funds raised will help St Nicholas Hospice Care continue to provide specialist palliative care and emotional support for people across West Suffolk and Thetford, both at the Hospice and in people’s own homes, as well as support for families, carers and loved ones.
The Hospice would also like to thank all of the cyclists, volunteers, sponsors and supporters who helped make the event a success.
