The Hidden Gardens of Bury raises a grand total of £22,484 for local hospice care

St Nicholas Hospice Care has thanked the many garden owners, volunteers, sponsors and visitors who helped make this year’s Hidden Gardens of Bury a tremendous success, raising an amazing £22,484.87 in support of local hospice care.

The final fundraising total was revealed at a special thank-you event held at The Guildhall on Tuesday, 7 July, where more than 50 guests gathered to celebrate the success of the much-loved community event and recognise the people who make it possible year after year.

This year’s Hidden Gardens of Bury welcomed more than 1,600 visitors, who spent the day exploring a collection of beautiful private gardens across Bury St Edmunds, many of which are not usually open to the public.

Now in its 39th year, the event continues to be one of the hospice’s most popular fundraisers, bringing the community together in support of local people and families facing dying, death and grief.

A particular tribute was paid to the garden owners who generously opened their gates and shared their carefully tended gardens with visitors. Their enthusiasm, hard work and commitment create the unique experience that has made Hidden Gardens of Bury such a wonderful event over nearly four decades.

Charlie De-Moore, Events and Community Fundraising Manager at St Nicholas Hospice Care, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have raised £22,484.87 and incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part in making this year’s Hidden Gardens of Bury such a success.

“Our heartfelt thanks go to every garden owner who opened their gates to visitors. The time, care and dedication that goes into preparing their gardens is remarkable, and their generosity is what makes this special event possible.

“We’re also hugely thankful to our volunteers, visitors and sponsors, Bedfords Estate Agents and Greene & Greene Solicitors, whose support helped create another wonderful day for our community.

“The funds raised will have a real impact, helping us continue to provide specialist care and support for local people and their families. Every ticket purchased, every cup of tea served, and every gate opened has contributed towards ensuring no one in West Suffolk and Thetford has to face dying, death or grief alone.”

The £22,484.87 raised will help St Nicholas Hospice Care continue providing compassionate specialist care and support for people and families across West Suffolk and Thetford, both at the hospice and in the community
