Team goes the distance for local Hospice
A team from Swift Recruit has taken on the Newmarket Half Marathon in support of St Nicholas Hospice Care and raised £11,745 for the local charity.
The fundraising effort was particularly meaningful for the team, following the care the hospice provided to a close family friend of their Chief Executive. That experience inspired colleagues across the business to get involved and support a cause close to their hearts.
One of those who took part from Swift Recruit George Hearn said: “We chose to support St Nicholas Hospice Care because of the personal connection it holds for our team.
“The Newmarket Half Marathon challenge was set by our Chief Executive. St Nicholas Hospice Care is a charity that is very close to his heart, following the exceptional care, compassion, and dignity they provided to a close family friend, Skye Anderson, and her loved ones during her final days after a long and courageous battle with sarcoma cancer.
“When the opportunity arose to support the hospice, it was a cause that resonated strongly with many of us at Swift Recruit. The support they provide to patients and families during some of life’s most difficult moments is truly invaluable.
“We understand that fundraising can be particularly challenging during difficult financial times, but this only strengthened our determination to raise not only vital funds but also awareness of the incredible care and support that St Nicholas Hospice Care delivers to those who need it most.”
St Nicholas Hospice Care supports people across West Suffolk and Thetford facing dying, death and grief, and relies on the generosity of individuals, community groups and businesses to continue its work.
Lee Graham, Corporate Fundraiser at St Nicholas Hospice Care, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone at Swift Recruit for taking on this challenge and supporting the hospice. Fundraising like this makes a real difference, helping us to continue being there for people and families across our community when they need us most. Their commitment and generosity are truly appreciated.”
